Taipei International Optoelectronics Week LASER Technology Development and Application Trend Seminar

Laser technology combines mechanical, optical, electrical and information technologies and can be widely used in fields such as automobiles, medical, national defense, agriculture and people’s livelihood products. Therefore, if a country can develop a complete laser industry, it will not only help the development of major industries. Upgrading can also help industry players seize the huge business opportunities related to the laser industry.

The global laser market size reached a value of US$1.817 billion in 2021-2022 and is expected to increase at a CAGR of 4.47% during the forecast period, reaching US$2.363 billion by 2030. In the domestic market, in the field of mechanical equipment application, the annual output value of laser processing equipment is about NT$4 billion to NT$5 billion, and more than NT$10 billion of laser-related equipment is imported every year. Laser processing equipment is used in electronic components. The output value of products produced in , semiconductors, panels, and metal products has reached NT$300-350 billion, indicating that the business opportunities are huge whether it is laser equipment manufacturing or related applications.

The 2023 Taipei International Optoelectronics Week hosted by the Photonics Industry & Technology Development Association (PIDA) has specially planned a “LASER Technology Development and Application Trend Seminar” to be held on October 25.

During the seminar, speakers on laser technology included Professor Yen-Chieh Huang, professor of the 〝High energy Optics and Electronics Laboratory〞 of National Tsing Hua University, who gave a lecture on 〝 Technological Development and Application of High-power LED Pump Lasers 〞; Dr. Yung-Fu Chen, Vice President of National  Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, mentioned contact The development process of laser technology; Taiwan Color Optics Inc./General Manager/Y. P. Chang talks about 〝 The development trend of advanced car lights and optical radar in autonomous driving〞; and Phosertek Corporation shares 〝 PCSEL, laser technology and application trends 〞.

Y.P. Chang, general manager of Taiwan Color Optics Inc., said that the increasingly updated virtual map allows the adaptive high-beam system to continue to improve, and with the accumulation of data, training and future predictions can be performed. Upload road incident data to the database to implement this function; the following are two usage examples. First, there is false alarm prevention. Correctly identify whether it is a real vehicle and accumulate incident experience to prevent misidentification. Secondly, it predicts the entry and exit of roads with street lights, transmits the brightness data of street lights on the road to the cloud, and predicts the road lighting to determine whether to turn on the high beam.
